That's some nice booty, buddy.

So how's that watertight Explorer II holding up? And which one do you perfer hunting the beach with, the Explorer II or the Excalibur?

Thanks Mike! The Aqua-Explorer got right in the surf last trip and stayed dry but is undergoing a redesign. Its lighter and better balanced than the stock configuration but no where near as light or balanced as I want it.

Well good question. I had the Excalibur lead pipe (control box) and battery slung over my shoulder like a canteen and even with the cement filled stock 10 inch coil I was able to swing it for hours without too much arm fatigue. I was pretty happy with that so advantage Excalibur in that regard. It is certainly more stable in the wet sand and surf than the Explorer, far less falsing.

That said the Explorer has far superior tone ID and gets more depth. But all that falsing...I'm a depth junky and I'm not willing to lower my sens 50% to make it stable like the Excal. Therefore I started work on a custom Explorer coil specifically for beach hunting. I wasn't able to finish it in time for this trip but will be testing it soon.
