NiMH battery discharger ??

Is there a method of fully discharging my NiMH battery pack for the EXll other than leaving the detector running? It is usually 3/4 discharged after a hunt so I charge it up after every hunt. I would like to completely discharge it once in a while before I fully charge it. I was thinking of attaching a small toy motor to it and just leave it run the battery down. I'm not sure if that would damage the battery.

I don't believe that is suggested with the these battery packs. What was called a "memory" is not a problem with these packs as I understand it. I think I read from one of our engineers that it is best to not run them all the way down to nothing. I run mine down to the warning that they are low and then recharge them so keep a spare pack with me when hunting. I frankly don't pay a lot of attention to how often to charge them but go by how long I expect to hunt and make sure they have enough charge and spares to do the job.

There was talk a few years ago about some that would use a 12 volt light to discharge them, but you have to watch them so you do not run them completly dead or could ruin them.
I have one of the original SunRay chargers called the Super charger that will discharge to a safe level, then recharge again. These were good and are not made anymore, but I hear talk that maybe SunRay is working on a new one.
What I do with the Explorer is watch my battery gauge and when it gets lower then 1/4 I will put in one of my extra pack, then recharge the pack I took out on the Super charger. Every 3 or 4 times I will discharge and recharge too.
I feel the best way if you dont have a discharger is just to run them down a bit untill they get lower then 1/4 before you recharge, or if you know you will be going out for a full day, charge up the nite before.

I guess I'm on the right track. I carry a spare alkaline pack. I try to run my NiMH lower than 1/4 before recharging. I'll stick to that regiment. I appreciate your input on what you guys do.
