NiMH battery comments

I bought an 8 bay charger and 1800 batteries but find they don't seem to last too long. Does anybody else use them and have any pointers I should know about? Thx.

Fred, which machine are you using them in? If it's in the GTI 1500, GTI 2500 or GTP 1350, set your machine to rechargable battery mode and you will notice the apparent worn down batteries are like new again. The 250 ace only had the one default battery mode, so rechargeables will probably be missing the first bar on the icon. That is normal. The rechargable batteries put out less voltage then the alkaline batteries, but the machines don't require the full 1.5 volt battery to operate at their full potential. The 1800mA/Hr AA batteries should work just fine an all Garrett Detectors. Hope this helps.

I use energizer 2500 mah batteries in my Ace 250. I got the full battery indication when they were fresh. Have been using the detector almost everyday since (maybe 2 weeks) and still have 1 bar on the battery indication.

John,

I'm using the GTAx 750, and have set the indicator to "Rechargeable".

It went down one bar as soon as they were installed and another bar about an hour later.

They lasted for the 3-4 hours I was hunting and appeared OK, so maybe I'm concerned about something that really does not matter. I was just wondering if the 1800's were a good choice.

Guess I won't worry about it unless they crap out.

Thx.

I use 1800's in a GTI-1500 and they last about 20 to 25 hours. The first bar goes pretty quick but the other take hours to go.

Just my 2 cents worth, I am using a GTP 1350, with Ray O Vac IC3 1.2v 2000mAh batteries, and they easily last all week. I hunt about 45 minutes a day at lunch, and an hour and a half after work. BTW thease charge in 15 MINUTES!! If I don't set the display to "Rechargable" they show 1 bar less than full when installed.

The batteries usually will not take a full charge
till the 4-5 attempt. With the 2500 left on while
hunting, I can get about 15-17 hours using the
1800mha batteries. This is with rechargable battery
selected on the menu and power showing one bar
when pinpointing.
