Night hunting

3RINGER

New member
I see now why I've seen some talk about what they found "last night".

Heat index 105 all weekend. Lord it's hot! Went out with a member from VA who was here on vacation Sat. and pulled in a friction primor ring and a 1942D merc. Went today and got one of those clip on the bill lights (LED), going to try to go out tonight to the same field near Hoovers Gap TN. Just got too hot SAT....made me sick.

Anyone else finding themself hunting late evening or night due to the heat?

ringer, back before development when I had some good fields to go to some of the most fun I had was night hunting in the pitch black, and particularly fun identifying the coins I found by touch. Some were obvious like large cents or Georges. I remember finding a coin to thin and smooth to be copper; then feeling the rim and finding no ridges; putting it in my pocket and knowing for sure it had to be a reale or an early U.S. silver (I'd had visions of an early U.S. silver, but it was a reale).

i hunt at night all the time! some of my best finds. it seams you focus on the ground better and tend to be more tuned to the sounds than the display. it helps alot.

I can see how that would help ya out mikeeatsbugs
