Night Hunting...The Perfect Night Lite??? Look!

I had a nice LED headlight that I lost maybe a month ago...I think I left it on top of my truck and drove off maybe. So being that VB is pretty well lit from the hotels, it's not TOO dark down by the water. So I've been hunting for a few weeks without one. But last night I decided I really do want another one, so...

I just got back from Wal-Mart. Found this Brinkman headlight there for $10, 3 AAA batteries included...in the Sporting Goods section. It's very well made, super lightweight, puts out a LOT of light...can't tell by the pics. And it will run like 60 hours on the batteries. And if you don't want to look like a 747 coming in for a night landing, it can switch to a single red LED that still throws a lot of light but is less conspicuous. It Also has a nice soft pad on the back so it's very comfortable on your head. And it weighs so little you could forget you have it on. Unlike one that somebody mentioned with 8 AA batteries...that's WAY to heavy for me. I have one of those Eveready headlights and it's too heavy unless you wear it with a hat, which I don't wear a hat at night. If you prefer, it could also be worn around the neck because you can aim it with the swivel however you want. So I just wanted to share this if anybody is interested. I had bought another one for $15 at Target (the one I lost) and this is WAY better for $10.

True, it's not waterproof. But in the last few years of beach hunting I've only ever gotten drenched from head-to-toe ONE TIME. Ironically, it was last weekend! But as you said, for $9 who cares? Yeah, it's a nifty little light. My big yellow Eveready headlight (with 4 AA's, I checked) uses a standard flashlight battery and ate up AA's like crazy. The NiMH's worked good in it for a while but then they got weak. This is better. Hell, I'll buy one or two a summer if need be. :)
