I also do a lot of night hunting (Not lately though, as my fiancee's schedule and mine conflict at the moment due to her going to school and working)...This is the very least amount of equipment I would get:
1) LED headlamp...clip onto your hat brim, or have headband (About 10-20 bucks+batteries)
2) Knee Pads (I got a set of Huskies at Home Depot for 10 bucks)
3) Old Towel to wipe dew and mud off your coil and tools and hands
4) good digging tools (LESCHE, Gator, shovels, etc. can get expensive) Don't go cheap here, you will regret it when you've traveled out, only to dig your first hole and have your tool break on you
5) bug spray and flea and tick spray
6) pinpointing probe w/light (Harbor Freight sells one for $15.00)
7) Water or other fluids
Any written permission slips you might need
9) your Identification (helps if Johnny Law does come poking' around)
10) a can of pepper spray might be in order for some, just in case...
11) bag to carry all your equipment in (I suggest dark colors so it does not stand out in the dark)
12) All your witts about you (keep your guard high, but do not let fear interfere with a good hunt, as nugget said, keep strangers in front of you and off your six (backside))
Most of all, night hunting is great in Summer months, as it is often cooler, quieter, and sometimes even MORE relaxed
