Night beach hunt yields BIG GOLD:bouncy:

unearth

Member
Beach was packed yesterday, so I decided to do a night beach hunt so I wouldn't be bothered by the crowds of people. Surprisingly, with all the people that were at the beach, I wasn't finding much of anything but trash. I tried the North side of the pier and was pretty much skunked, so I decided to try the South side. On my way over to the South side I decided to hit the swing/exercise area first. Boy am I glad I did. Under some, what I know as, "traveler rings" I found this big boy...14k, size 11 1/2, 11 gram gold ring. Biggest ring I've found all year!

unearth, that's a nice looking gold ring, makes me yearn for a few beaches out here in the desert! Thanks for sharing your finds.

Nice heavy ring!! your gathering quite a collection of gold this year! congrats!!!!

Congrats, nice ring. I quit detecting the Jersey shore beaches several years ago. Wasn't finding any gold, just junk jewelry, sinkers, rusty metal, and clad coins. A friend who has a condo right on a popular NJ beach said he doesn't search the beach because there is almost no gold, just cheap junk jewelry. I think the beach goers are getting wise from seeing detectorists cleaning up for the past 30 to 40 years and finally realized it is best to leave valuable jewelry in the motel room before hitting the beach or going in the water. New Jersey has terrific beaches, they are really jam packed with people all summer. If a family is going to spend a day on the beach, each person has to pay a hefty fee to get on (free admission after 5PM, good for detectorists), and auto parking fees are even more outrageous. Did I mention monster traffic jams every day during the season.

WTG, great recovery, unearth. Yeah, Dave, confirmed,no gold or silver on the beaches in my vacinity. And now with beach replenishment, with off-shore sand fed through a hopper,no need to hunt beach until next major storm erodes coastline.

That's a Monster! Congrats and HH
