Nickles and Nitros!!

For those of you that might not know what a "Nitro" is, I found one today and it was a screamer. They call them a Nitro because when you see them in your scoop, you get a major adrenaline rush because it looks soooooooo good and you think you're gonna need a Nitro pill for your heart. Then it's followed by deep depression after you examine it closely and find out it's silver plate over copper!! Dangit!!

Here's the Nirto ring I scooped today along with a little tiny silver stud earring with what, I am sure, is a fake diamond. Dangit!!

Looks good, doesn't it?? Too bad, so sad, it's not. But the thing about blew my Grey Ghost 'phones right off my head. I'm hoping they ship the new Amphibians this week because I sure could have used that volume control on this one. On the other hand, the little tiny silver earring was just the smallest of signals but I heard it clearly in the GG's even with the wind blowing like it was and mixed with the wave noise. The ATP will find some tiny sfuff for you but if you don't have good 'phones, you'll never hear it.

Here's the total take for the day and this is where the "Nickles" part comes in. I scooped 11 nickles from the lake. That's a lot, don't you think?? I don't think I've ever gotten that many nickles on a hunt before, land or water.

I hope everyone got some hunt time in and will start posting some finds soon. Take a few minutes and post those finds, I know you've got some, Yes, I'm talking to you!!

I always get a little rush finding a nickel. Got to figure someone left it for a pulltab. Found 6 today that don't happen very often for me.

Nickels good. Gold in future.

Made me think of the find I made last week at the beach. I did find some nitro. I found a small stainless steel water tight tube with a key ring attachment. Inside was a small glass bottle of Nitro-Stat.

Well, darn it BCD, I'd say you're due for a pirate's chest or at least a doubloon or two. I don't think I've dug that many nickels in a day - well, maybe back in the "coin slide" days - about a year and a half ago when I hit a section of steep creek bank that was saturated with coins. Heck, I don't even dig a coin in many of my recent hunts. There are other compensations, though. :yo:

Hey mi amigo, good to see you on here!! I'd like everyone to welcome Magnus. I met him today at the lake and let him borrow one of my AT Pros for a bit as he's been wanting to get one. I've got to say, you did a great job with the ATP and I was happy you found something cool right away. Here's the pic I took of your find, I was disappointed that all the shots I took were blurry.

It's a little cat earring he found within minutes of starting to swing the AT Pro.

I noticed you've got what it takes to be a really good detectorist, patience. Just keep using your detector and learning what it's telling you and more great finds will come your way, and the loot you find will soon pay for your own AT Pro!! If you ever have any questions, there's a lot of detecting experience on here and I'm sure someone can help.

You're right, they were both junkers, dangit!! But, you can't find gold every time. It seems I've been on a gold drought for a while now but I've got my fingers crossed that the next hunt will turn some up!! Here's the pic of the rings after a bit of cleaning.

Well, today I learned a new concept, the meaning of NITRO. I did not know that my first piece I found on the beach (and second... and third... :sadwalk:) were cursed nitros.
thanks for sharing
