On Sunday I found war nickel at 8 inches it read 5 like other nickels, then I found another war nickel about 8 inches it read 11,12 I thought it was going to be pull tab. I couldn't find any other metal in the hole. Anybody know why it would read different than others. Thanx HH Terry/Mo

those war nickels var quite a bit, not sure if the content varied enough to make a difference or its the ground.. I know with the Sov they varied as much as 10 numbers, but the normal nickels would only vary a few numbers.. never use digital on the explorer, and they all seem to fall close on the smart screen

Hello Terry,
I found two deep war nickele that read as penny. One of my hunting partners said that they contain some silver. That is why they read higher than other nickles.
Finding war nickels is like finging a silver coin.
HH, Paul

42"-45" contains Copper-Silver-Manganese
The other Jeffersons are obviously only Copper-Nickel.
