Nickels

kickback

New member
I went in to town tonight,my 86 year old father wanted to go out to eat. While he was getting ready I went down to a park by his house. This park gets hunted regularly by 2 guys. One told me he has dug close to $250.00 worth of quarters out of this park.He hunts with a Bounty Hunter and the other guy hunts with a Prism 5.In one hour I found 7 nickels, one was a 1961 and the other a 1964.1 dime and 12 pennies.I found the nickels where I had seen the other guys hunting. My CZ3D is a nickel magnet lately.I guessed 6 out of 7 nickels correctly before I dug them. One was so loud I thought it had to be a penny. The nickels hit soft,hi tone, and pinpoit soft.I really don't know how else to describe it.My Dad doesn't tease me about "going out to seek my fortune anymore".

In most cases CZ's are nickle magnets but have hit places where all the junk came in as nickle. Law of averages I guess...

Hey Kickback,

I too find many nickels with my CZ. The trick to 98% positive ID'ing nickels with a CZ (CZ5 or 3D in my case).

When hitting what mid-high tones at nickel, or needles at nickel,
very quickly shift your coil back and forth and side to side over the signal, at least five times. If even one of the times it drops to square tab, it is positively a square tab. Move on and dig that next 10+ inch silver coin with your deep seeking CZ.
Happy Hunting, Jerry
