Nickels reading stable at 5khz

I watch a you tube video where a gentleman said that when he gets a nickel vdi number on his 800 in multi he would switch to 5kHz. If the vdi number stayed stable and didn't jump around a lot it was most likely a nickel. Has anyone tried this, I am tonight.

i'll try this in the dry sand today.

Thought I could hear the middle section on a pull tab yesterday-time will tell.

yes..if you have a nickel id (13) and go to 5khz if it jumps to like around 30 id then its a bottle cap...or if it jumps a around the 13...11-16 numbers probly pull tab..junk of some sort
