Nickels. My averages toward Gold

Nothing is written in stone. But for years 2013, 2014 , 2015. I've averaged 1 gold to 129 nickels dug. Of course the tabs were too much of a hassle to keep track of. Mostly mud hunting, dry/ wet sand, some wading. Now some guys do lots better without finding many nickels. But that's how it works out in my hunting areas. I always have a goal of 500 nickels for a year. Last two 635 - 671. 5 gold rings for each year. (I'm retired) 2013 dug 377. 3 gold rings, so that's my story.
Just wondering if anybody else has been averaging anything ?

We found this hot spot a couple years ago here in WV that produced a five to one ratio in modern coins verses silver coins, that was some fun hunting until we cleaned it out. We also found plenty of wheat pennies in this area and a few buffalo nickels. Actually your ratio of gold found to nickels found is very good, ID say most of us would be much higher than that.

So, are you saying that all your gold rings read as a nickel? If not, you need to redo the math.

Didn't say that at all. I said. That I happen t to average 1 gold to about 129 nickels. A great many are found with pulse Induction, or a machine using little or no discrimination. But, I will say this , if there's a lot of tabs being left by hunters, than there is a good chance that there could be nickels mixed in with them. Hunters leaving nickels , chance of gold hiding there also. My theory is root out the nickels, tabs, to find some gold. What about you?

John Edmonton, Crackbadger, and a host of other successful ring hunters pay no attention to the ID of their finds. Sounds like you're about to join their ranks!
