nickels and the 3D

While running in enhanced mode I get a lot of nickel signals that turn out to be pull tabs. I started swithcing to salt when I get a nickel signal to see where that goes and it usually goes to pulltab. Am I doing the right thing or am I missing nickels. Is this normal for the 3D? I think there may be something wrong with mine.

Again, I'm thinking this is a Sens. issue. Maybe bad GB. Maybe you just got bad dirt! Never saw a CZ that didn't do well on nickels. I can even hunt "hunted out" sites and come home with a pocket full of nickels. Some heavily hit sites, all I find are nickels!

Often times, I hate to see that pointer pop to the nickel icon because it's very likely to be junk. It's junk at least 50% of the time. Mostly BTs (beavertails). But I always dig, especially when I flip the switch to salt and it gives a foil signal. That's very often a V nickel. Last night it was a Shield nickel. :D My first.

If it goes to Pulltab in salt mode, it may be a newer nickel. The 3D will often times put a new nickel in the round PT icon. Having said that, I did find a corroded 1982 nickel the other day that read nickel. So how new is new? I don't know. But if you pass a new nickel under the coil, it will most likely read round PT.

CZ3D has two modes one for old areas and one for new areas.....I really don't understand how they did it but the facets they fall in differ at times and most of your older nickels (buffalo, V. shield) read lower so in the advanced mode get an old nickel( one would not expect a newer nickel) should read nickel and in regular salt mode in newer areas new nickels should also read nickel.
Is there anything wrong with your machine (nope) is there anything wrong with your hunting choice of modes (yep) use the advanced mode for (older) areas and regular salt mode for newer areas.
I do realize if your hunting in an area that is a hundred years old and still being used you would have to make choice what to use depending if your looking for newer clad nickels or deeper
Buffalo, V, and shield. Also really deep Jefferson nickels may be a problem.
Your unit is working just like it should as thats the way it was programmed advanced(older areas) regular (newer areas) Hope this helps and do not compare a CZ3D with previous CZ's as its just a different animal..
