Nickels and pennies...

Got out with Dad today to the fairgrounds before the rain got the best of us. Started off with a couple of zincolns, and a few minutes later hit a nice 83 which was the first Wheat of the day. Not three feet away, another Wheat surfaced, and ten feet further a 1942 P war nickel showed itself. These three coins were almost in a line and it's hard to see how they were missed, however, that's what keeps me coming back there! Dodged a couple discs from a few hardy disc golfers, I think they were trying to hit me LOL

Both of us lasted about three hours before we decided to break for lunch, and after that; we both decided to call it a day. The rain intensified, and I think I'm getting a fever (LOVELY!), and both of us plan to hit it again next Monday (and hope for better weather!). 2 War nickels, 5 Wheats, one regular nickel, and 2 zincolns were today's haul. Dad found a quarter and a pocketknife and is really liking the AT Pro...WE NEED BETTER WEATHER!!!

CZ,

Sounds like a fun hunt.

I guess you were hunting in 8k; did the war nickel ring up any different than any others?

I was in my standard 12k program, but by the time I got the war nickel, the control box came off since it started raining. Bummer...would have hunted all day if not for the rain!

Good hunting Taylor. Yeah, we need a break in this weather. Cold, sleet, snow, ice and now rain. HH jim tn

CZ, I'm going to post this information here. You have some good experience with Deus, and since the Deus does have frequency offset, this information below may explain or be of some help to maybe squeeze a bit more depth out of Deus on any given day. This information comes from a veteran fisher f75 user.

ALSO noteworthy: In my test-garden...... with the new LTD2....................... with freq selection F7, I encountered a 2.7" depth loss difference on a clad dime.... when compared to the other (F1-F6) freq's/channels. There was NO audible EMI on any one (of the 7) channels. The next day, F4 was the least-performing channel..... and F7 was one of the better performing channels. Soooooo....... How would you know that you are operating on a 'reduced performance' channel!
Moral of the story = Do not think... for one moment................ that EMI & silent EMI does not affect other detectors!

Interesting CZ I don't use 12k much but I would have thought the wheat would have been higher than 83 in 12k. I guess you just never know.

Nice going on the war nickels. I'm glad that your dad likes his new detector. You're going to have to work a little harder now to stay out in front of him.
