Nickel made into a Cross, too cool

I found a cross in a circle today. It hit on nickel. After a closer look, I could see it was punched out of a 1964 nickel. You can still see all the writing on the edge. Love these odd finds, that

It was hard to figure what it looked like from our phone conversation bro but that's a cool find for sure. Wonder if that was a hand cut job or some kind of cookie cutter deal. Never the less with that and the coins you found that was another reason to keep swinging for sure!!! SAVE SOME FOR ME. I'll be back down early next year....ehehe......

Hey! I actually logged into this forum because of this particular find. Where did you find this? I was just sifting through a small pile of coins that my great uncle/passed down to my grandmother/passed down to my brother and now to me. I found the same exact cross and I believe the date on mine is 1983. Any idea when/where/why these were made? My uncle was in the Navy and served in Vietnam, so I am very curious if there is any connection to the Navy or any kind of political/religious event.
