Nickel machine:

Tried out my new MXT at an old closed-up middle school yesterday. It was very hot so I only hunted for about an hour and a half. Used coin and jewelry with trigger pushed forward and disc. up under nickel.

WHAT A NICKEL FINDER! Found 12 nickels which the most I have ever found in one hunt and I have hunted this place with about everything you can think of. Also found 6 clad quarters, 8 clad dimes and 7 copper house pennies.

The nickels read 18 and 20 and really sounded off louder than the other targets in this range like pencil eraser holders and some tabs.

I bought this machine mainly for relic hunting and am really pleasantly surprised at how well it coin hunts. Can't wait to take it out again.

Sometimes I find spots where I get more nickels than pennies. My record for one clad hunt is 48. As you say the nickels really sing out.

Hi Linwood, Congrats on your new nickel machine. Oh, I mean MXT. It's a wonderful everything machine Linwood. You'll be very surprised the quantity of goods you'll be pulling out of the ground. I use the coin/jewelry mode when hunting playgrounds, etc. and then I use the relic mode when hunting private property and wanting those older coins, etc. IThe MXT is great and so versatile. Please keep us posted. We love to hear about any and all finds. Thanks for sharing and HH to all, Nancy

Hi Nancy,

Just wondering, when you coin hunt in the relic mode, where do you set the discrimination (tone) ? Do you use the iron tone when coin hunting in relic mode?

Have not tried this but will next time out.

Thanks,
Linwood

Best I have used also and have used a bunch. Including other tone, ID and notch machines.

Linwood,

When I use the relic mode when hunting a private yard, I start off with the discrimination set at 6. I'm wanting to find the surface coins and also the shallow silver coins. After hunting it for a while, I lower it to 2. The targets get interesting and you dig everything. If the MXT's signal jumps around, you have to "trust" your machine. Usually it's junk. I would say 99.99% is junk. That's how accurate this machine is. Now this is only my findings. Others might think different. Bottom line is trust your machine!

Good luck and HH hunting.

Nancy
