Nice way to end the day

So, I get an anonymous call on Saturday at approximately 1800 hrs from someone who says something about a lost ring and will buy or rent or help finding this ring.

Out the door to go to a family party, I call this number and the voice on the other side says he and a buddy were playing ball at this beach and this buddy lost his wedding ring and needed help. He continued to say that he and his friend were fresh out of Law School and that his buddy's wife was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer (mid-20's). Sad situation. Anyway, I told my girls that we were going to help somebody and that we'd go to the party a little late and explained why it's important to help when it's needed. Surprisingly, they agreed.

Come to find out, he saw my add for a metal detector for sale on Craigslist. Talk about all available resources, uh.

Off with my White's PI Pro and Ace 250 we went. I wasn't sure exactly what conditions the ring was lost in.

Approximately 30 minutes later I met up with the guys who seem nice and legit. They walked me over to where the ring was suspected to be which was in the water about a foot deep with lightly crashing waves. Ouch, "you didn't tell me I was going to get wet"? As I stood there in nice walking shorts and t-shirt.

So I readied my PI and proceeded to enter the water where there were a lot of concrete blocks and and rocks with seaweed and thought I'm not going to hear crappola above the steel rebar and other metals in the area. Then I thought I'd sweep the area to see if I hear a different sound other then the steel. Sure enough I hear this crisp lighter sound that was slightly different in a cluster of seaweed. I reached in and felt the ring immediately. The ring was found in maybe a minute. I thought for sure I'd have a hard time with the PI in these conditions but... it worked.

The owner of the ring was very happy and appreciative to have his ring back.

On the way home, I asked my girls (4 and 7) how they felt helping somebody and both agreed that they were happy.

Ya, I got a little wet but... it was good:D

A minute amongst the concrete with a PI ... I think your coil was guided there by larger powers.
Congrats!

Thank you all for your replies. The only thing I hoped to gain through all this is my girls were able to see and feel what it means to help others no matter what the circumstances or how small or insignificant the request.
