first time i found a rolled coin, 4 mariengroschen from 1692. apparently people ate them rolled like that for safekeeping during travels, battles etc. so this one came out at the other end .... :) luckily in 300 years the organic matter disintegrated :)
alternatively, they were made into jewelry, but since this one was there alone, i guess the first case applies...
cheers

TRULY a piece of history with an interesting story. Nice coin too. Thanks for sharing.

Very cool. Never heard of that- rolling a coin so it can be "passed" on later more easily. Just think, you could stand over that dug plug and tell yourself...."On some day way into the past...a person squatted in this very spot and took a dump." Now THAT'S history. Very nice find, in either case.

Very Cool find.
I really wish we knew where these finds are being made. Not your secret spot but the the state, countr,y,part of the world would be great.

Thanks for your nice comments, i am glad you like it.
I live in Germany for now and this is where i found it, middle Germany to be exact. Actually, I was out looking for roman stuff, but to no avail, still waiting to find my first roman coin. Didn't find any of those, but a collection of curious finds instead, first this rolled coin, then two one-pfennig nazi coins, each with 3 identical holes in it, and then two 5-frank belgian coins, also from the II WW. In my experience, belgian coins like to travel the most :) , found them in many strange places and with mint dates spanning centuries  Go figure ...
Cheers !
