~NICE Semi Key 1924-D Wheat~

New member
I dug this saturday and just got to cleaning it up last night, I was out of peroxide and I knew this wheat would be a good canidate for a peroxide bath, I think it came out just awesome....a nice rich chocolate color, no corrossion anywhere.

In 5 yrs I have dug WELL over 3,000 wheat pennies and this is the best (most valuable) wheat I have ever dug, sure I have gotten a few $5, $10 dollar wheats, but this is my first real decent semi key.....I guess I was due!

what do you think it would grade at? I am hoping possibly Fine?

WTG Terry on the nice find.

I know I haven't found a 24D yet and I sure would like too. I would say it's a good fine to VF maybe. either way it's a great find..

I find new pennies in worse shape than that. I think that easily makes Fine. Nice job and congrats!

Congratulations on your "well due and well deserved" wheat Terry! Thanks for the pictures too.

Congratulations on an awesome find, that 1924-d wheat looks to be at least a $50 coin or more if you decide to sell it. :clapping:

Nice one Terry !
An uneducated opinion ... Fine to Very Fine.

Take a look at this coin grading by photo website site - just hold your coin up to the photo's - a good site to have bookmarked >>> http://www.pcgs.com/Photograde/

Maybe I dont pay enough attention - cleaning with peroxide? Do you just clean pennies with it, and how does that work?

NICE..Where did the " AM " disappear to on the reverse. Looks like it may be a filled die variety.......nge
