Nice new hunting location

I have a new place to hunt. No one has lived there in 50+ years. So far I have only found a 1943 Mercury Dime, Budweiser cans old enough to have been opened with a church key, and a lot of mason jar lids with the white glass inside them along with a lot of unidentified cans and bottles. The house is only a two room and the barn is a tobacco barn. The barn is all hand hewn lumber that is dovetailed and is in very good shape. If you look close you can see the Garrett leaning against the barn.. I don't have alot of history on the place, but was told that the deceased owner, which I knew when he was in his 80's, came there in a horse and wagon and built the house in the teens of the 20th century. He owned hundred's of acres and built three other houses on the land throughout the years. One of the other houses has also been abandoned and I have permission to hunt it also. The layout of the house and barn makes no sense and I will tell you more about that later, although the barn was updated and repaired through the years, I think it is much older then the house and still think there is another house foundation there somewhere.

Hunt the North East Corner of the house and the barn. also look on top of the rafters in the North East corner of the house and barn inside. In the old days they would put a shiney Silver Dollar out front or in the rafter in the North East corner for luck, for Happiness and prosperity. Old folks were sort of superstitious. :D: :D: . I have found several silver Dollars on the rafters and outside at the North East corner of old homes. :clapping: Later Jerry aka Tinfoil

That's very interesting. Never heard it before. Sounds like it might be something peculiar to a particular immigrant group. Do you have anything specific on the ethnics involved, and maybe known surnames in those areas? Ever find foreign silver at NE corners instead? Were these all rural places or were some in towns? Thanks.

When I started hunting over 20 years ago a old guy taught me that. He never hunted anything but silver coins. Had more silver coins then anyone I have ever seen. Never dug nickles or pennies. Said it was not worth his time and they were always in too bad a shape. I have found the $1 coins all over the U.S. . 5 Civil War seated's and 4 barbers. The Barbers all late 1800's. Have to find them to get the dates right.
