Nice Land Owner

Last summer I was given permission to detect a old church yard and the owner showed me around the old church, he is restoreing it to use for weddings and such, as he showed me around I noticed in the kitchen he was missing a few drawer fronts and drawers and told him for being so kind in giving me the go to detect I would make him the drawers and fronts, I felt sorry for him as he was in the middle of reroofing the church and the guys that he paid upfront tore the roof off and never came back. The owner told me its never been detected before, I thought Sure, well after swinging on 2 different days the only coin I could find was a wheat penny for about 4 hours hunting. Before I left I talked with the church owner and he asked what I had found and showed him the wheat and gave him all the relics I dug and he says wait a minute he had something for me and he comes out with this coin display and says here you go thanks for the drawers and fronts. So I guess being nice does pay off sometimes. Happy Holidays everyone.

That is nice! I have met some really great folks with this hobby, and being nice always wins in my book! Way to go!

That's a cool story !
You meet a lot of real nice people while asking permission to hunt different sites - it's just one more thing that makes our hobby so great !

Very nice story. Thansk for sharing.

I felt it was something I could do for him to help him with his project of restoreing this great old church, it really did not cost me much but time and a little wood which I had both.
