Nice IH and RR Baggage tag?

After a fruitless day at a woods site, for the last hour of daylight retreated to a home Ive done before, neighbor just getting home, I jokingly yell you really want me to detect your place right? And he says sure do, alright! (1880 house). I think its been detected before, because all I got was a few wheaties, this Indian and help me out, is this a RR claim tag? Says BH 7, doesnt say B&H7. On back it says Milwaukee. I notice there is a company named BH from Milwaukee, that makes specialty washers, is that what this could be, or does the slot at the top designate it more likely to be a baggage tag? Im in an area perhaps 100 miles from Bath and Hammondsport, where there was a rail line with those letters as it trademark years ago. I did see something about a Milwaukee RR, merging with others years ago also. Took me an hour to clean the IH, it was covered with hardened pine sap, but shes a beauty for sure. Thanks for looking and any input, CO

2 nice finds. How do you clean your IH's? Mine never end up looking like that one. But, I don't spend much time on them either. Good job! HH jim tn

I have found two similar items that turned out to be early room key fobs. They must have strapped the key to the fob and given it to the guest. Mine had the name of a very old hotel in the area. You might check and see if any of those initials show up on a nearby hotel. Nice finds.

Jim, i usually dont spend much time either. First off i think the sap or coating protected it and it must of been in pretty good shape to begin with when it was lost. I took a very close look cause I couldnt see any date at all and was just trying to find that out.- at first what i thought was corrosion and base metal was in fact the coating, which wouldnt yield to water. Im not sure i should of done this but on a tiny edge piece tried full strength hydrogen peroxide. After a minute or two it was softening the stuff, so i could work it off with a wooden tooth pick and plotted it then with a paper towel a little at a time. I occasionally got scared and rinsed it with water thinking i might be harming it. In the end i put some baking soda on it and rinsed it thinking to neutralize the acid of the peroxide (is it acidic, I dont know?) My concern as to the authenticity with the token is it seems to be cheaper metal and not as ornate as compared to some Ive seen on line.thanks all, CO

Great finds, The IH is still on my list.
