Nice Gold Ring Find

EasySwing

New member
Went metal detecting on Dec 29 in a small tot park in Huntsville in 32 degrees. That is cold for a Florida boy. On the last swing of the mxt I found a nice 10k woman's ring in the chips. Also a nice silver quarter 1944 and about 25 quarters , one english pound coin and 1 dollar coin. A great hunt and and nice reward for my efforts. Happy Holidays, Marty

Congrats, nice dig and finds !

Nice indeed.....:clapping:

Are you sure that is 10K? Looks 18K by the color. Is the stamp clear? That is a nice find. I would test it if the stamp is worn. Looks too yellow for 10K.

Not real sure Greg, but need to get it home and use a good loupe on it.

Very nice finds and what a way to end the year. What did you find out about the ring? HH,Nancy

Nancy,
Ring was stamped 10kp which is "plumb" which means at least 10k or more in purity. Just got home from driving over 3,000 miles... tired.

Thats interesting. I read about kp marks some and read that a 10kt ring is about 9.5k but a 10kp ring is exactly 10k.

EasySwing, I hope you got rested up from your LONG trip. Thanks for the info on the ring. It's very pretty. Do you have a lucky lady to share that with? HH, Nancy

I always thought p stands for plated? am I wrong

I believe if it is stamped kp without spaces then no, but if the letters are spaced then yes plated.
Sometimes you will see 10K GF = Gold Filled

Yes a wife of 23 years but I want to find a nice pair of 1/2 K diamonds to complement her engagemnent ring diamond. Don't we all wish that!
For now it goes in the ring display box awaiting the right ring finger size. My daughters have slender fingers and I have their sizes in case "something" happens to come up! lol

Congtrats on the 23 years! And I love what you do with the rings. Thanks and HH, Nancy
