Nice find with F2

lovepulltabs

Well my 12 year old boy was bugging me, let's go metal detecting Dad! I said "give me a chance to wake up". So he went across the street to the park with his Compadre while I had my coffee. He comes back in about an hour with a penny and some screws, nails and other assorted junk. So we get in the truck and take the short trip down to the Spokane river to another local park. Now there's some history here as people have been coming here for over 100 years. I decided to take the F2 and my son took his compadre. After over an hour or two of searching we had the usual pulltabs, old nails and a 1968 penny that I found with the F2 at about 3". So we went down by the river detecting by some large boulders with small grassy areas where swimmers and people having a picnic usually hang out. After finding some pulltabs and an old Schlitz malt liquor screwcap (that I thought was a quarter for sure), I got a good signal for a dime, hit solid in 2 directions X ing the target. So i dug this ring, at first I thought it was an old pulltab as I pulled it out of the hole at 3"+. Then as I wiped the dirt off my son got excited and said "Dad that's a ring!" I said, so it is, took it home and cleaned it off and it says sterling on the inside of the band. We had a good day father and son, and got a mothers day gift to boot!

cool, I wish my dad would hunt with me. He says to much work for to little reward, same reason he dosen't eat sunflower seeds:shrug:

By the way did you remember the number on the target meter?

It bounced 67-68 and stayed on dime. I thought for sure it was a dime. At first when I recovered it I thought it was a pull tab and my son and I were thrilled to see it was a ring when we removed some dirt. jim tn is right the best treasure was spending a good time with my 12 year old son (my youngest) before you know it they're all grown up and gone. By the way the ring is exactly the same diameter as a dime.

Thanks for the meter reading...I will file that one away...Yes...I have dig tabs that read dimes with my machine...funny hunt...
