Newly Modded Deleon:smile:

I'm going to try detecting with the Deleon without looking at the screen and go strictly by the audio tone. I really like the audio tone, because it's pleasant to listen to and carries a lot of info for my ears. I don't know what Tesoro did to the Deleon to make it such a deep detecting machine, but it's up there deep with the Tejon and Vaquero. What ever is under the hood it takes 8 batteries to run it. Also it separates targets very well and works great around ole rusty nails. It has a liking for silver coins.

I too was surprised by the depth when I first got my Deleon. I've always listened first and looked second on tid machines as I detected for quite a few years before ever having a display.

I like that interested in seeing the outcome with this, Also the Deleon is going to be my next Tesoro going to get one in a couple months

tabman, i read one of your posts, where you said that you could afford any detector you wanted. why did you not get the cortes instead of the deleon? they have the same frequency and the cortes has the manual GB and other features. just curious why you chose the deleon. thanks.

I first had a Deleon and sold it to try a Cortes. The GB on the Cortes is only for the all metal mode, the GB for discriminate mode is factory preset. The only other things that the Cortes has that the Deleon doesn't have is the notch feature and a display light. I don't hardly ever use a notch feature, because I like to dig most targets, so that's not important to me. Also the display light is not all that important to me, because I could hardly see the small ID numbers on the Cortes anyway. The display ID numbers on the Deleon are large and easy to read. What I like most about both detectors is their depth and the Deleon delivers plenty of that.

I don't like looking at a display screen all that much because it talks me out of digging. A good target next to some trash ID's as a bad target on a display screen.

thanks, i did not know the manual GB was just in all metal on cortes. so, i guess the deleon, without using the display, would just be a lower frequency cibola without the pinpoint button. their depth would be about the same anyhow? or would the higher freq. give the cibola an edge on the depth? by the way, thanks for taking the time answering.

Why does tesoro do that its like they can only get one good thing on a detector , at a time can you imagine if they had a ground balance on the deleon that worked into the disc and also a nice all metal . it would be one of the best detectors out in the field . I have to say I am frustrated about it , but despite this strange anomaly I like what they do have even in its buffered state or restrained, state kinda like having a really good fishing pole with a crapy real , then the other one has a great real with a crappy pole .

im no detector pro, by far. yes, i know what your saying kaolinwasher. why put manual GB on a machine in just all metal mode and not disc. the vaq has manual GB in both modes, cibola has pre-set GB. both have the same freq. so, why could they not have both, either you could run a pre-set or manual GB when you liked, and call it the ciquero. haha, anyhow it does seem odd.

I really like the tones on the Golden uMax and while I could get used to not having them, I prefer to have the sound. The Deleon would be perfect if it had GB and Tones! As it has neither, I am waiting to see what the Caz has, if I don't care for this offering, I will get a Deleon next, because many comment on the depth and that it likes silver.

Haven't heard u report back on the DeLeon. How's it working for you?

I haven't been detecting much because of the heat and concrete like ground from the like of rain.

So far it seems like it's going to do well for me. It has some good depth.
