Newly demoed 1920s house shows lots of potential!

So last night there was nearly a full moon and the rain had finally slacked off from the previous two days. I had set some new coins in the test garden and have been playing with the settings trying to get the deeper "plants" to hit more confidently...many thanks goes out to Jim (Niagaracounty NY) for the videos!!! I am going to post some of my own results on the test garden probably next week.

Off I went to one of the vacant lots in the old section of the city to try and coax a couple more super-deep coins out from hiding, but had no luck at that site. One of the residents was walking his dog and stopped to see what I'd found - I replied not all that much - and then he told me of a recent demo about a mile away directly across the street from the fairgrounds that I've hunted so much over the last year. So I packed up the detector and drove down to the homesite - it was about 11:30 when I got started, but the moon was out, the temp was nice, and there were plenty of sickening orange streetlights there that lit up most of the lot.

I've been using 12 khz recently and have been finding many cool coins, tokens, etc at depth - and last night was no exception! My first signal was a strong "74-75" and at 1 inch down out pops a terrific 1902 Indian cent! This kept me excited and after a couple minutes, I found plenty of coins just laying about - none of them exceeding 4 inches. Many of them were zincolns, but a few minutes later out comes a well-preserved 1919 cent. Got a solid but large "86" and a very shallow brass medallion came to light. It was so encrusted that I only found out what it was until this morning!!! Still not quite sure what it is...but I like it! Not pictured is a small button that is still soaking in solution - it's still to crusty to get details

Found a neat junker ring, but the whole hunt was very exciting and there was no shortage of targets whatsoever!!! The place was very muddy and I didn't see signs of other detectorists, but the amount and period of targets found tell me that I'm one of the first ones to hunt it! The trash quotient is staggering, but this is normal for the neighborhood...Sunday morning I'm returning to the homesite with the glasses and will be filming finds for most of the day!
