Hello,
Went hunting today for a little while at a public park near me. Have hunted this area before and only found clad coins. Decided to try a different area of the park.
This diff. area was loaded with trash, so I went very slow with the coil. After just a few minutes I got an iffy signal but I kept at it. Different angles, etc. Kept getting a high tone every few passes of the coil so I knew there was something good there. Maybe....you never really know. So I dug it. Found a VERY worn Standing
Liberty quarter. Being new to this, a little over a month, I have never seen a silver coin so worn. All I can tell from it is that it is a series 2 SLQ. Too bad it's so worn, but I'll take it any day.
Have read some posts from other newbies about finding silver. I have a friend, who has been at it for years, who is helping me. Where to hunt, what to dig, hunting in trashy areas.....etc. His help has been unreal. Thanks, Mike, if you read this. :clapping:
So far have found 2 mercury dimes, a 1950 Q, and this SLQ. Oh and tons of clad, and I'm just getting started.
The E Trac is an awesome machine. Attached is the pic of the SLQ.
Dan.

That one has definitly been in circulation! Thanks for the story and the picture! Keep'm'comin'!

Most city parks have been pounded to death by detectors. It's hard to find a regular silver quarter. So finding a SLQ, no matter how worn, is a great find! :clapping::clapping: Congratulations on your first SLQ!

WTG Dan, my favorite coin. I don't care how worn it is, it is still beautiful.

Keep up the great finds.

Thanks everyone,
It was a rush to pop that target out. I dug the plug, turned it over, and out it popped the coin. I said out loud "holy s..t".
Pure luck I guess, but the E Trac is what picked it out amongst all of the trash.

I know what you're saying about pure luck, but that had nothing to do with it. You found the spot, placed YOUR coil over the target! You DECIDED to dig! You and HER were bound to meet that day!!! End of story. :cheekkiss::thumbup:

Keep diggin'

Finding a SLQ is awesome no matter the condition. You'll find more and one of them will be in great shape. HH
Keep on a swingin'

Thanks,
It's been raining around here for the last couple of days. Lot's of rain, over 3 inches of it. They say nice weather for tomm., Sat., and Sunday.
Can't wait to get back to where I got that SLQ. I told a metal friend of mine where I got it. Got to get back there before he does. :) He also has
an E Trac.
HH Dan.
