Hello everyone. I'm a new member to the forum, but have been reading it for a few weeks. I drug my wife out on a soggy day with a really old Bounty Hunter detector in the hope of getting her interested in detecting. We stopped at an old elementary school and ended up having a blast. She used the detector while I did the digging. Two days later we went to my favorite store (Baringers Detectors) and bought myself a Whites MXT, and her a Garrett Ace 250. We have not gotten to use them yet because the weather here in Ohio has really been wet since we got them (2 days ago), but we've used this time to learn the detectors. Although I had my eye on an MXT for a while, it was you folks in the forum that made the decision an easy one for me. I look forward to becoming a regular here. Thank you so much for your willingness to share your knowledge with those of us that are new to the hobby.

Welcome to the MXT club. I'm fairly new at it myself. The folks here are great and have helped me tremendously. My best advice would be to practice, practice.....

Good luck

I'm just getting back into THing after 30+ years away from the hobby. It's how I decided to improve my strength and stamina after surgery this past July. I've tried a Tesoro Tejon (liked the light weight), Fisher C$ (love the features/performance, but can't handle it's weight) Garrett 1500 (not my cup of tea) and a Fisher ID EDGE (the jury is still out). I JUST bought a "previously loved" MXT and Sunray probe from a fellow here in Findmall, and I'm really excited about using it. I'm located in central PA, right next to absolutely no where.
My FIRST question is: are there any sites/resources/FAQs that can help me progress up the learning curve with the MXT? I will, of course, be reading the posts here, but if there is somewhere I can do some of the research on my own, it'd save everyone from an endless stream of questions.
Thanks in advance,
Tagamet

Hi,
I gotta tell ya, I love my MXT. I have used many detectors, and I have found that the MXT is the best for me.
As far as learning, what I like to do is go back and read all the old posts on this forum. Sometimes, I find myself forgetting some of the tips and techniques, and just go back and re-read the old posts.

Happy Hunting, Jeff in Michigan
