Newbie with Eagle II SL

I just purchased my very first detector (Eagle II SL) and am attempting to get acquainted with
it. How is it possible to know if the unit is working to specification? Is there a set of tests that
can be run?

Maybe someone could explain whether the Eagle units retains it's settings after
power off. Is there some 'Reset' that would put the unit back to factory defaults?

I guess I'm just trying to determine 'is my unit working correctly?'

Your advice is appreciated...
Thanks
Jim

Hi Jim, when i first got mine, i used the pre-set till i got to know it a little. Do you have a Manual? If you do read it 4or 5 times, and keep it handy. When you turn on ,hold the coil out in the air and hit air on the detector, when you here a beep, place coil on the ground and hit the ground button, you should here a nice beep, If you here beep, beep, beep beep, it is not balance right. Do it again until you get one beep. Then you can put coins on the ground and go over them to see that it picks them up, keep going higher till you can,t here them anymore. you should get some were to about 6" to 9" above them and still here them. It you set it up right. It is one of Whites Best older detectors every made. Try to get a manual if you don,t have one, look on line. I think Whites web has older manuals you can print. Good Luck Flint stone
