I got out for about an hour today in between doing pesky non-metal detecting tasks, and decided to hit the old courthouse. I did the happy dance when I pulled out my first silver, the 1960 Roosevelt dime. A few minutes later, I dug the 1939 Mercury dime and did an even happier dance. Also found my first wheat penny (a '53). Nothing extraordinary, but the curse is officially lifted, and needless to say, I'll be spending some future Sundays 'at court'. I figured that law enforcement types would be less likely to be concerned when it was closed. Sure enough, I didn't realize that the Sheriff's station is right next door, must have seen 6 cruisers and a state cop, just waved at them and they waved back,
Also visible is my po' boy's Lesche - took the grinder to it and gave it some teeth and a good sharpening - it's a 1.25" mini, thought it might be good for getting in between the rocks that pass for dirt here, and it's not bad, definitely gettin' my $9 worth out of it. I'm going to get a Lesche too for the deeper stuff (wider plug, maybe I won't nick my next Rosie) - both silvers were 7"-8" down, and it was a little hard getting them out of a 3" hole, heh. The other thing appears to be a broken toy rifle (sorry, wrong angle), might clean the crud off for a better look, kinda cool.
HH to all!
