Hi All
Just joined this site and had a good look at many interesting posts. I have just moved to a T2 from a GMP (due delivery this week) and plan to use mainly on pasture in the UK.
I think it is a switch on and go, but not too sure yet about how you actually start off after adjusting settings / GB etc. Also any general settings to use. I realise that everyone has their own preferred settings, but if I can get a general idea then that would be great.
Many thanks and good hunting.
Paul

I like sens 82-85 disc at 4-5 and 2 tones. I do a lot of relic hunting in Virginia and pull GREAT stuff!

Your older stuff in the UK and metal types are something I can not comment on. I only know ID numbers for Civil War stuff here with the T2 but even then they are not 100%. You will enjoy the T2. I have had mine for a year or more and still learn a little but more each month.

With pasture you will not get so much ground interference. so A higher sens say 80 disc 20 sounds 2+ you could try the other sounds on grass I find them difficult. 1 is in effect all metal.
Ground grab first just to make sure. That helps in arable should also help on grass.Best of luck. Its a great machine. Like any sensitive machine take it SLOW and keep the coin bang on the ground as you sweep. I have seen so many people on rallies searching for low flying aircraft !!

have you checked out garysdetecting.co.uk he has many different settings for t2 also silverman777, learn and then trust your pinpoint ,listen for the highest and loudest pitch happy hunting grounds!

so you're saying that itd best to just turn the machine on and start hunting without changing anything.

Preset with any machine is always better till your familiar with the detector....... If you have a ton of experience I suppose you could up the sens a little and work through it.. Fast Grab GB would be a must too.

Thanks again everyone for your comments and tips. It will take me a while to try them all out, but the basics are just what I needed to get me started.
All the best.

how many tones does it start out in. 1 tone wouldn't be very good but a lot of hunters say thats all they use.

I have only done some air testing in the kitchen, but I like 2+ tone, and I think I will start off with this. I had an XP GMP before and these tones are similar but sharper on the T2.
Just want to get out now, but many farms are a bit under seed etc now.

i use 2 tone as i hate the high pitch of the 3 tone.........i cant get used to it.....i have a fisher f-2 and i like those tones better.......wish it was not so disturbing......
