Newbie Splurging On The ATPro

Seawater

New member
Hello All,

I've been doing a lot of research on machines. I live here on the New Hampshire Seacoast. I'm splurging on the AT Pro. I've heard many good things about it. Although they had problems with them when they 1st came out. I've also heard that many are having difficulty with ground balance in salt water. Still, I've made my decision. I am an amateur. I had one of those cheap Radio Shack detectors when I was a kid. Found a musket ball from the civil war era in the Catskill Mountains with it. So I look forward to it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

R.Scott,
Tons and tons of good info on here about the AT. Great bunch of guys here to help also. If you have any specific questions holler at me. Love to help you. You pocked a great machine.

Welcome to the AT Party.

Give yourself time to learn the machine and make sure you have a good digging tool. You're gonna need it with that machine.

Your gonna love it! I was one that had a problem and had to send it in. During the time I was without it I was very ticked off and talking about getting rid of it. About a week and a half later it come back and has been in the water more times then I can remember. I love the AT Pro so much I bought 2 more of them.

Hmmmmmm....new detectorist...new machine!! I anticipate many questions coming from you when you get it!!

Mine has already paid for itself in gold rings...wish I had some saltwater beach nearby...freshwater will have to do for me!!

It does. It has the smallest coastline of any state in the US. 16 miles long. Do you know what state has the most coastline?

the state with the mostus is Alaska. at least thats my first quess. you should note that when the ATP was released Garrett did not recommend it for salt water surf nor diving in salt water. only over zealous dealers made those claims. Garrett did not stop the claims or deny them. that said the ATP was advertised as a relic hunter that was water proof in fresh water to 10'. then all the problems hit and were apparently solved. as stated before Garrett did not deny the salt water claims. they did not say you couldn't or shouldn't go into salt water with the ATP. it may be that it's because of the gb problem in salt water. still a number of users seem to be very happy using theirs in salt water.
