I can't get my XS to boot up. The unit was working perfectly and I took the rechargeable NIMH battery pack out to recharge and now the unit will not boot up. I have done the following:
remove and replace the battery pack about 15 times thinking that the contacts are not making contact.
I put the regular battery pack with alkaline batteries in it and still no bootup. I took the batteries out then made sure they were inserted correctly.
I have checked the spiral contacts inside the housing and they appear to be ok.
When I recharged the battery pack it was NOT completely discharged. I only recharged it because I was going to hunt all day and wanted full battery capacity. Is there anyway to check the battery pack for juice?

You can recharge the batteries without discharging first. I do it all the time. Try pushing on the battery while turning the Explorer on.. sometimes I have had to do that//

Thanks for your response. I tried your remedy, but I not sure what the problem is. I finally got it to boot, but it did not want to turn off. I had to remove the battery pack to shut it down. I'm thinking about returning it to Minelab for a look at the power switch.
