Just want to say I've been watching this forum and am fascinated by all the users and knowledge. I've been metal detecting for about 10 years and just purchased a garret 550.....excellent machine...I'll post a picture tomorrow of Saturdays field trip.
Being from the Great Lakes area of Ontario I seem to be fortunate to have so many beaches to try. From reading the forum its expanded my knowledge of new ares to try. No snow today and no frost in the ground but my days are numbered. I must admit the yella fella 250 from reading the forum seems to be an excellent machine.....I'm thinking maybe I ought get one as well. For now its just me an the mean green huntin machine.....550.

Cheers !:beers:

Welcome aboard. We'll be looking forward to you posting some finds. The 550 is a great little machine and it loves rings.

Uncle Willy,

I tried attatching a photo but it did not work. Is there a help section on how to do it ? Is there a size limit on the file ? It looked like it went through but I do not see it.

Ian, pleasure to hear from you. I tried posting a photo but for some reason the site will not do it .....I suspect it is the file size. The photo is 1.9 meg Can you tell me if that is the issue? If it is how can I reduce the size of the file ?

Not sure of the image file size limit on this forum. Chances are you will have to reduce the size though and it would also help those people viewing the posts using dial-up modems too. Most image editing software will do that easily and probably is already on your computer, or comes with your digital camera on a CD/DVD. If you don't have such software, recently I like using this free one: CLICK HERE

Try and keep the pics to 72dpi (i.e. for viewing on a computer monitor) and that really helps reduce the total size right down. (Only use e.g. 300dpi if/when someone wants to print out a photo.)

Hope that helps.

Ian

 Thanks for the tip I'm going to check out my manual tonight and see what I'm doing wrong.

Cheers !

Thankyou Ian I'm going to see if my software for my camera will allow me to reduce the size of the file. If my software does not have that feature I'll give the "Gimp" software a try.....thanks again :)

Cheers!

Ian,

After several trys I think I got the picture down to size.I changed the seting on my camera retook the picture and than cropped the image.
Hope this works.
The picture reflects a three ring day at a local beach.

Cheers!

Bill,

I had to bring the picture below 200 for it to work. Now that I know how to do it I'm itchin to make another picture post.

Yup.....I was a happy guy.I'd love to do it again but the grounds starting to freeze up good. Might have to get myself a pick and blowtorch to pry them out of the ground.

Thanks for helping me out.
