Hello,

I'm not new to metal detecting in general, but new to hunting on a beach. I'm making plans to hunt along the northern coast of California. I will be using a White's XLT. I have a couple of sand scoops, electronic probe, etc.

I have used the XLT in fresh water, but not in salt water. The beaches I'll try have that fine gray sand, the kind that gets into everything.

I do understand about using a grid system and checking iffy targets until I get used to the target icons, ID numbers, and tones.

If anyone has any do's and don't please let me know.

Thanks for any and all help.

Happy hunting!

Dave
