Newbie on the beach needs help....

I'm planning vacations to Mexico and Hawaii this fall and would like to take my Minelab SE with me. Some advise against using it at the beach because it can corrode. Others say go ahead just keep the control box dry. (Dah!) What are your thoughts? Anyone using an Explorer? Any thoughts on beach strategy or detector settings? It will be my first time at the beach and I've only had the unit about a month so far. Thanks in advance!

I am also going to the beach for the first time on the 4th of July.
I purchased a sand scoop with a long handle, so I don't have to stoop down and dunk my Explorer in the water. I also plan to attach it to my belt with a short bungee cord, in case I drop it when I find that first gold ring.

Good luck,

I used my SE on the beach for 2 weeks without any problems. I did stay in the dry sand though. I found $25.60 in change, 7 matchbox cars, 2 rings and an ankle bracelet. It did great in All Metal. I was very happy with the performance.

Sounds like what I'm interested in this time out. When you say "all metal" I assume you ran in Iron Mask only, but at what level? Any other changes?

I mean that none of the item (ie. coins, jewelry, pulltabs... etc.) are check under the "SELECT" option. Go in there under the menu and select "CLEAR" and you'll be in 'ALL METAL"
