Looking to buy my first metal detector. Want to spend about 150 dollars or so. What kind of things should I be looking for in my first detector? There are so many types . Large coils , auto ground balancing, etc... .What should I keep in mind? I want the most bang for my buck . Thanks,

good starter machine but I would spend the extra 50 bucks and get the 250 model.Ive never tried the ace series but always heard good reviews about them.HH

...in fact if you listen to him most of the time, you wont go wrong. The rest of the time, listen to me.

If you can afford it get an ACE250 because it can Pinpoint and is easy to use. Possibly you can if an ACE250 used for the same price of the new ACE150.

Just my two cents worth.

The classified section on this forum sometimes has good deals on used equipment.I have found some of the dealers also on this forum have bargain prices on lower end used detectors that are from customer's that upgraded. The Garrett Ace 250 is one of the best detectors avaiable.I would put another 50 dollars into the purchase and buy a Ace 250.This will save you a lot of time and aggrevation.

try the tracker IV by bounty hunter $130 from kelleyco online - get the (2) 9 volt rechargible batteries & recharger for $30 (cuz 9 volts batteries cost big $$ these days)-- tax & (free) shipping total about $172.00 simple to use ,light weight, good value for the $$
