Just purchased Quick Draw II, have been reading post to learn this machine. Confused by some of info. Would appreciate any input.
1. Manual says that QD II defaults to "All Metal" on start up, however I read a post which stated that this was wrong and it actually defaults to "Disc".
2. From post I have gained that in "Disc" mode I should get different tones based on type of target and in "All Metal" mode should get escalating tones
as target gets closer.
3. My unit has different tones in both modes and does not escalate in either mode. This makes it hard to pinpoint.
4. Also I see no way to determine which mode you are in either visually or audible.
Please provide any info you have to help a confused newbie out, I sincerely appreciate your response.
Many Thanks

Hi an welcome,, i also have a QD ll, yes i belive it is in the all metal mode when turned on, the disc mode is all metal by pushing the button the bt will will set an useing the disc know will elimanate differant metals, i reset my mant times while hunting to make sure i'm getting a good signal, some where on here was a movie explaining how to use the Qd ll an how to pin point with it, takes some pratice but the QD ll is a very good machine

Maybe some one can re post the you tube link for the movies :clapping: i went back an looked for it but cound not find it

hi deezell, i have a pioneer 202, which is very similar to your quickdraw 2. the manual does state that the machine does default to all metal when it's turned on. so does the dvd. you will get different tones with different metals - and different targets. for example, a shotgun shell is a mid tone, a silver dime is a high tone, and gold and iron come in very low, sounds more like a grunt than anything else. i really hope you've invested in some good quality headphones; your're gonna need 'em.

i found out real quick that the auto notch features were not for me. i want to choose what i dig, and not leave it to the machine. to access these, press the buttons in and your're there. turn your sens. and disc. to the settings in the manual [i don't know what they are...never used it.] it's much simpler for me to just turn the disc. to the 9 o'clock position, jack the sens. up as far as ground conditions will allow me to. if it starts to chirp, turn your sens. down a little until it stops and keep going. i have found everything under the sun with these settings. then let the machine do it's job.

i also found out real quick that the 202 is a cinch to pinpoint with. sure, the deeper the target, the harder it is. but, with some practice, you'll get good at it. it would do you well to build a "test garden" by burying different metal pieces and coins at different depths in your yard, and see how your machine reacts to each target. space them out a little, and again, with some practice, you'll soon be good at it.

just be patient and persistent, and take the time to learn the machine. too many new people give up too quickly, and never realize the full potentials of this great hobby. we're always around if you have any more questions. i wish you luck my friend, and hh,
