Although I have had my Ace 250 for over a year now, I really got to use it quite a bit on vacation last week at a beach. Now that I am hooked, I will be going every chance I get! Anyways, on vacation I found quite a bit of bullet caseings and I am wondering if they are copper and worth keeping? I also found a 1947 what penny and a 1942 indian head nickel. Are these considered good finds? I see a lot of people keep pull tabs and bottle caps. Are these worth anything, or just to show?

Casings are usually brass in that copper couldn't hold the pressure of the modern powders. You can sell them for scrap or a reloader might want them and would pay for them. Pulltabs and bottle caps can be included in scrap metal and sold as such. Most people post the junk items to show that they are digging everything just to get the good stuff. Newbies usually get discouraged if they have a lot of junk to good finds ratio. Set your Ace on coin mode and if you keep getting good signals ans dig junk, then back your sensitivity down and keep doing that until you are at a good ratio of good to junk. That will get you started. Stick at it and post your finds.

They stopped minting them in 1938.

Every coin I find is a good find! If it's pre 1964 all the better even if it's only a cent or a nickel.

I haven't found a Buffalo (Indian Head) nickel for a real long time. Nice find.

The coins you find are nice finds. Bullet casings are brass. People show there tabs and bottlecaps to show how much junk they dug and removed. I don't know of anyone who saves them unless they have a special fetish. :)
