Hi All,
I'm just returning to metal detecting after a 30+ year hiatus. While laid up with some medical issues I read several books on the local history (cental Penna) and decided to return to the hobby.
Now that I have a couple of detectors and some coins under my belt (so to speak), I'm floundering a bit on HOW to research some of the local haunts. I've spent plenty of time in the local library and the local historical society, but I don't really have any structure to my searches. I guess what I'm asking for is something (book, website, etc) that would spell out a successful *approach* to finding info on good prospective sites to search for relics.
Probably my best tool, so far, is just talking to local old timers. Many (not all) of their leads turn out to be starting points, but then I feel like I'm floundering.
Is there a "Relic Hunting for Dummies" book available?
Thanks in advance,
Tagamet

We carry a number of books on relic hunting and metal detecting. They can be found in our books section on our web site. Welcome back to the hobby!
