i just bought this machine and have the tornado 10 inch and the sunray s-5 intruder coil do i need a 8 inch coil? i will be hunting old house sites in the woods and some parks and schools but mostly relic hunting

My thoughts: The S-8 or Tornado 8" are great coils. I would sell the S-5 and pick up one of those. The Tornado 8" is actually smaller than 8" and is small enough to avoid masking while giving better depth. Relic hunting you will probably be in all metal so masking might not be an issue. But the 8" coils are very nice.

While I don't disagree with Goodmore's recommendation to get an eight inch coil... I wouldn't be too quick to sell off the S-5 coil until you've tried it.

I have the S-5, S-8, and S-12 Sunray coils and I think each has it's own use. I particularly like the S-5 for sniping in real trashy parks and school yards.

I also found that the five inch "Double D" coil was a little easier for me to learn how to pin point with when I first started using a Sovereign.

I tend to agree a 5" and 10" coil would be sufficient for most areas.
