Digging It

Hello everyone. I just picked up a new tracker IV last week and spent 2 full days swinging it . First day I hit a couple of the local parks with no real luck just a few badly corroded zinc pennys and couple of newer quarters . That night I did a little research and learned about an old swimming hole and resort located on creek that was open back in the 20's . I had heard of it before but had no idea exactly where it was . So I used google earth and just followed the creek and boom there it was just a bunch of old foundations must be 10 or more old cabin spots all scattered on the hill sides . I drove down the next day and its like a jungle there very heavy brush and very steep hills with lots of stone steps around the cabin sites . The spot where you pull in off the road is still used as a swimming hole and is very trashy. The first area I tried was at the edge of the water and I found a ton of newer clad and few copper pennys some where laying out in plain site . probably 15.00 total havent counted it yet . I was little reluctant to climb the hill side since I was by myself and I am disabled ( back injury ) But I noticed a small clearing maybe 8 ft square and decided to chance it . as soon as my coil hit the ground I had a hit and dug it up it was an old missouri mill tax token . next swing I hit a 1917 wheat penny . Then my batteries died and with no spares I had to leave . I came home put in batteries and spent the rest of the day in the backyard. I found an old ring looks like brass with some cheap stones a silver ear ring and about 5.00 in newer coins . Today I'm sitting here at home watching it snow . I will be heading back out to that old swimming hole with a buddy as soon as it thaws . I'll let ya know what turns up there .
