Hey guys and gals what is everyones thought on the 12" coil that comes with the mxt 300? i know that i will be getting a smaller coil for my machine, but have not read anything on the 12"coil that comes with the 300.
should i replace it with another coil or keep it.

Keep it. It's great for relatively clean places, covers well and is deep. You'll want a smaller coil for trashy parks etc. The 5.3 is very good for that and the 6X10DD does fairly well in trash also. The 4X6 is near surgical in trashl, but at the expense of depth and ground coverage. JMHO

By all means keep it. You might want to consider a smaller coil for tight trashy spots. I love the 5.3 coil myself for such purposes. Welcome to the world of the MXT. You're going to love it. We've got a lot of wonderful people here and a lot of knowledge of detecting also. HH, Nancy

Oh gads yes do keep the 12" coil,on the beach it outbeats all the machines I have. And I am expert with my machines after 48 years of hunting.
my detector pal was right behind me on the beach and was pulling coins I could not even hear with his MXT 12" coil

BUT if you hunt fields I highly recommend you buy a 9"DD coil.It made a world of difference on the field. The 12" tells you to dig WAY too deep
for most of the hits.So I now use a 9" DD coil on fields much better...Good luck and happy hunting John.....................
