Newbie F4 Fisher question

New member
I just got my new machine and am a first timer. When I sweep over a target for the FIRST time I get an audible beep along with the VDI# displayed. The problem I am having is that in the format I use after one sweep, the beep and VDI display but if I go back over the target the machine doesn`t register the target.Shouldn`t the target continue to display and the machine beep with each sweep over it? What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

could cause a false signal. Use preset sensitivity until you become familiar with the F4.

It could be a few things. My first inclination is that it is a trash target (iron). My Omega & T2 do the same thing with iron. Even if the discrimination is set to reject iron. Due to the target being non-circular shaped target. Many non-round targets will give a one-way good signal....and go blank on the return sweep. Most detectors are designed to give a solid signal in each sweep direction on 'circular' targets...eg. coins. But a round iron washer will mimic a coin signal...because its round. As Lurk's mentioned, it could be too high a sensitivity. But my opinion from what your describing is what I have mentioned.
The best thing to do is dig these one-way's for a while so you know exactly what the machine is responding too. As the Findmall guru Monte say's in his signature..."Your Eyes, the ONLY 100% accurate form of Discrimination!"
