Newbie equipment questions

I have just started down the road toward underwater detecting. I'd like to hear about y'alls setups. From fins to masks to detectors to diggers/scoops. What do y'all have with you when you go into the water? What are the brands that work and which ones are the cheap knock offs? I appreciate anything y'all can offer up.

Welcome! What part of the world are you hunting in and how deep in the water (wetsand, knees, neck, diving? ) will you be going? Give us a general idea to your location and I am sure there is someone nearby who can make some recommendations.

I live in NE Georgia. I make 2+ trips to NW Florida. I also try to make 1 trip a year to the Charleston, SC area. There are several freshwater locations nearby that I will also be trying. 30' and less on the fresh water spots. But I'm so new at this, I'm not sure I'm even giving the right info...lol.

From the sound of it I would say start with a Minelab Excalibur or a Fisher CZ 20 or 21. Either one will get you started with the best results possible. If you are wading you will need a good scoop. I recommend a good S.S. Scoop or an aluminum with a Stainless steel lip.
