Newbie doesn't know metal detectors

I want a metal detector, my immediate need is to find property corner monuments. What is the difference between the treasure hunting type with the large coil on the bottom and the contractor type that are just a stick (like the CST Magna-Trak

Hay Bkvanbek,

I just happen to be a retired surveyor.

I ben findin iron pins for 30 years.

Tha pin finders like tha Chicago Steel Tape ( CST ) and
Schonstedt magnetic locators only find ferrous metals.
Those are metals that are attracted to a magnet like
steel and iron.

Treasure hunting metal detectors find non-ferrous metals
like brass, copper, silver, aluminum and gold, as well as
ferrous metals.

A treasure hunting metal detector can find iron pins, but
not as well as an industrial pin finder. But an industrial pin
finder is a crummy treasure hunter. No good.

I have a CST. Ya want ta buy it??? It will find old cannon
balls, real deep.

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog
