Newbie considering M6

I have yet to purchase my first MD. I am looking for something mid-range so I don't get frustrated and give up or have to upgrade.
I will only be able to use a couple times a month but one of my first sites -pic below could pay for the purchase.
The location is Upper Peninsula- Mi which I understand is mineral rich soil so I would like something with self adjusting ground balance, since I am a beginner.
I also need something I can search in the water(not completely) as this place was built early 1900's and had a lot of affluent people.
Rest of MD'ng will be around the suburbs of Chicago - maybe some trips, on occasion to S. Ill.

My question is will the M6 be a good choice and does anyone know where to p/u a used or refurbished?
Cheapest new I can find is 599

Thanks for any info

The M-6 is a great detector if your ground has high minerals then you will need a DD type coil along with your stock coil with the M-6

I live in New Orleans and according to Kellyco, I have high mineral soil. JW at Kellyco suggested the whites mxt. They sell all brands and
from time to time have used and refurbished ones. I settled for the MXT 300 and an additional 6in DD accelerator coil. Looks like a hot spot, good luck
