Im a neebie to metal detecting. Always wanted one so i bought a used at pro. And used for first time only dug high tones at first found alot of pull tabs and old bottle tops. And a lot of clad coins dollars quarters and a silver time. But was fun now im hooked. I need a pinpointer.

Welcome to the hobby, if you live in the capital of California hook up with us SVDB, There's a lot of people here whom are very good at the Pro

Looks like you are well on your way to getting some great finds. Keep us updated with your finds, and if you have any questions, just ask. :)

You sound just as excited as my 13 yr. old son. Bought him his first detector Saturday, a Garrett 300. He has already found his first silver dime and hooked on the hobby. Congrats on your purchase it will bring many years of enjoyment. I too have an AT pro and love it. I bought the 5x8 DD coil and find myself using it almost exclusively now. Would be an excellent purchase to compliment your AT.

Garrett makes some great pin Pointers. Make sure you get one from a good source as there are Forgeries out there.

Welcome to the Hobby

If you can afford it, get the Garrett 'carrot' pin pointer.

The newer Orange Garrett is definitely a better pin pointer.

100% waterproof, adjustable, vibrates and/or just audio, etc. Much more sensitive than the original black one.

One you have one and use it a bit, you will wonder how you ever got along without it.

Had awsome day today. Found 1900 penny and 1941 silver dime. Dime only hit 61 but was deep so i dug it. Lucky wasnt a pull tab.

I'm new as well (Last July). I got the Carrot as well. It's amazing. My ATP really started working well after the last few storms. I've been hitting coins at my local parks. I also got my first ring (not silver), but still cool to find. Well second if you count a 1982 Quarter ring I found on the beach.

I'm definitely hooked on this stuff!

Cheers,

Scott
