Newb with GTI 2500

Ok Newbie here had a cheap tector years ago never did anything with it. So I got an itch last Tue and ordered a GTI 2500 the women that took my order assured me it would arrive by Fri. Well ofcourse the damn thing didn't show and it was a beauty of a weekend. Well it showed today (after it has poured down rain all day) about and hour before dark. I slapped her together as fast as I could (put the coil on backwards the first time) and ran out to give it a try. After spending a bit playing with the buttons and screwing everything upLOL reset it to factory and started hunting.

Got about 45min in before dark but I am happy the three pieces of junk were when I was digging everything then the 1947 silver (MY FIRST ALREADY) then 1967. Heck I'm like a kid a Christmas already cancelled everything for tommorow to hunt the rest of my yard.

That is a nice find for your first day. The settings are not very complicated. Factory presets are OK. I generally lower the sensitivity a bit. Generally 7-8 is where I set mine. Lower the volume a bit. Set up the notches as I like them on the custom program. Set battery type to what kind I'm using. I also like to turn treasure talk to search with imaging. If your 2500 is brand new, you don't have that option. Stick with the stock coil for a while. You're doing fine if you found a silver Rosie already. Way to go!

Hey, I had to laugh when I got to the part "of course the damn thing didn't show up till" I know what you mean. :) Thats not a bad haul for your first
time bud. Thats really a pretty cool ol butter knife. And of course a silver Rosie is always good! HH to ya!

Hey ya all Thanks for the welcome. Miserable day here again cold and wet ground is saturated. But I am out trying already this morn. One penny and finding out my yard has alot of junk the size of a coin. I really think I am going to like this once I get some more experience. Had to come in and get warm knees soaking wet and muddy (knee pads dumba__!) hands froze and muddy (again gloves DumbA_ _!!) Like I said I be learning lol.

Chris thanks for settings gonna give it a try when I go back out and yep it's new no talk (only took me 20 min to find out)

Anyone out there from south central PA? Blair county here.

Doing some research now have allot of history local and some good ideas just need to find out how to get permission. Big Railroad town lots of canals and inclines old homesteads, Indians etc. Also looking at trying the river below Johnstown retired from the railroad and I am pretty sure I can get into some places others can't (railroad property). So many ideas but too new to run too fast. Going to stay close to home and gain some experience and try to find a vet local that wouldn't mind educating a newb.

BTW Ron I moved from New Brighton about 4years back spent two years out there.
