Hi,Anyone know if its worth a trip to New Zealand to go prospecting with a detector??Lots Of people go to Australia For That But What About N.Z? I,vie Seen old Paper clippings of really large Nuggets Found with dredgers, but nothing on metal detectors.. Thanks For Any Info..

Gold can be found detecting there but I think large nuggets are rare.Steep country, lots of scrub and the rivers are full of water.
I did a bit of dredging there in the early 80's and managed to find a couple of bits with my groundhog.
Having said that I will be going there soon and will take my 4000.Will post my experience here.

Do a search on 'New Zealand Gold' on Finders Forum in Australia.
Maybe someone can provide a link?

great country and yea of course you will find gold!! Dang it the best way to find out is to just do it!! Git on over dar and start diggin boy, time isa wastin. I have no doubt that you will find some colour but youre gonna have to be like a billy goat and be able to handle some steep cilmbs an cold nights if ya camp out. Anyways the locals hold the key and if ya can get onto some good folk you will have a great time!! Oh yea because youre heading into sheep country just be carefull :yikes:
